Preliminary size reduction / shredding of plastics
The use of special single-shaft and multi-shaft shredders enables plastic waste to be economically treated and processed for re-use. In line with current regulations, shredders are used for the preliminary size reduction of various materials. Typical applications include:
- Large-volume tanks
- Plastic drums
- De-baling of film bales
- Plastic pallets
- Lumps from the extrusion industry
Size reduction / grinding of plastic
Slow speed granulators, granulators and pulverisers are used to reduce the size of plastic, which can be immediately reduced to the required granule size for recycling. Plastic parts are either ground directly or also after passing through a shredder. Typical applications include:
- Sprues and rejects in injection moulding
- Size reduction of loose films or rolls of film in inline or offline processes Ground material / primary material for fine grinding for the extrusion of profiles, pipes or plates
with working widths from 600 to 2600 mm. Designed for lightweight to medium-weight operations in the plastics industry.

ZERMA ZPS single-shaft shredders are designed for general all-purpose uses. They are ideal for the size reduction of heavy and solid parts.
With rotor widths of 1200, 1500 and 2000 mm. Ideal for large-volume hollow bodies, such as IBCs, wheelie bins, pallets and rain butts.
The heavy-duty solution for the size reduction of large-diameter and long pipes and profiles. ZERMA ZRS shredders are capable of directly handling plastic pipes up to a length of 6.500 mm without the need for pre-cutting or sawing.
